Our Services

Flue parts can vary from build to build and especially with older properties systems can need adapters to connect them to replacement parts that may need to be fitted to bring the system up to current regulations.

We offer a full range of collars and adapters to ensure the flue system is connected together legally and safely which can be bought through our online store or supplied and fitted by our own engineers.

Installation of fuel burning appliances.

Here at Fluetech Ltd our qualified engineers will install your new appliance from collection of the new stove and if required building up of the new stove, supply & fit of the debris board with or without soot doors, fitting air vents if required and most important registering the installation with HETAS.

We offer a complete all round building service including full new replacements chimneys as well as pre-fabricated flue system both internally and externally to existing properties or new builds.

Our own qualified and fully trained engineers will carry out any work with the minimum of fuss and at our usual high standards.

With use over the years chimneys can develop leaks which can allow dangerous fumes to enter the living space which can be harmful to the house occupier. A faulty chimney can also cause issues with the appliance meaning it may not function as intended.

A chimney liner is a metal tube that is inserted into the chimney allowing the fumes to flow up and out of the top of the chimney. They come in various sizes to suit any fuel burning appliance and different grades of metals with some having 25 year guarantees. We can supply and install any type of chimney liner and are registered suppliers of Furan liners. .

Reasons for lining.

1) Flue leaking smoke & fumes into other rooms.

2) Condensates or tar seeping through the chimney (common with wood burning stoves).

3) The flue is too large for the type of fire/appliance being used.

4) Flue is too cold and not drawing properly (often against outside walls).

5) Chimney built since 1965, clay liners installed incorrectly (a common problem).

6) Old flue is eroded causing frictional resistance to the flow of gases causing poor up draught.

Here at Fluetech Ltd our qualified engineers will be able to reline your chimney if required using a safe method of work utilising different types of access including ladder restraint, tower scaffolds, edge protection platforms, stack scaffolds and hydraulic platforms as recommended in the safe working at height regulations.

Sometime identifying chimney problems can be difficult so we also have full CCTV and thermal imaging systems to help diagnose faults and find heat seepage.

We offer a full range of traditional chimney pots to suit any age of house and our engineers will advise you on the most suitable type for your house.

We also offer a full range of different chimney pots for sale through our online store.

It is not uncommon, especially in older properties, to have the internal structure of a chimney fail or collapse rendering the chimney useless. Usually the only way to repair such a major problem is a complete masonry rebuild which our fully qualified engineers can perform for you.

Chimneys can suffer from a multitude of problems caused internally by heat or externally by the effects of the weather. Our engineers will inspect, assess and carry out any repairs that may be needed.

An important part of looking after any fuel burning appliance is chimney sweeping/cleaning. Having the chimney cleaned removes tars and residues from within the chimney and helps maintain a good flow of the products of combustion as well as reducing the risks of internal chimney fires. A sweep is done using modern equipment including vacuums as well as the traditional brushes to keep soot fall to a absolute minimum.

We offer chimney sweeping from:

1. Solid Fuel Sweep and Safety Test - £50

2. Gas Sweep and Safety Report - £60

3. Full Stove Service (including sweep and test) - £80

A cowl can be an essential add on to any flue system. They help stop rain penetrating the flue as well as stopping birds either entering the flue or dropping twigs and berries down which can lead to future problems and blockages. There are many different types of cowls for all manner of different situations and our engineers will gladly advise you on the best type for your installation. We also have a full range of cowls available to purchase through our online store.

Whilst flue requirements for different appliances are standardised, not all flues work as they should and sometimes need alterations to make them work correctly and extending the flue can sometimes be necessary. Possible reasons for extending a flue are to alleviate problems caused by high pressure zones (downdraught) or to meet current building regulations in respect to flue heights and positions.

Not all flues and chimneys are built the same and off the shelf parts aren't always available to fit every situation. We have a full in-house dedicated sheet metal fabrication workshop that enables us to produce our own custom made parts from scratch meaning we can solve the problems that others can't. We will also manufacture custom made components for your own installer to use which are available for purchase through our online store.

A flue box is fitted behind the fuel burning appliance to funnel the products of combustion into the flue system correctly. We offer a range of standard items for most general installations and will also custom make a fluebox to suit your own requirements, all of which can be supplied and installed by our own engineers or bought directly from our online store.

Internal flues can suffer from a build up of various substances including soot, tar, spiders webs and debris dropped down from the top by birds. Also small pieces of loose masonry can foul the flue so cleaning can be invaluable.

Over time with the huge amounts of heat that pass through a flue system it is inevitable that damage occurs to the flue structure. We offer a complete repair service to keep your flue system in peak working order and we can even repair and rebuild a complete pre-cast flue system.

A gather canopy acts as an integral part of a flue to reduce the flue opening to connect to the rest of the flue. We make all our gather canopies ourselves using our in-house fabrication service which give us (and you) complete control over spigot positions, angles and fitting. We have standard designs we use everyday or design and build a gather from scratch either to be fitted by our own engineers or bought through our online store for your own use.

If you are unfortunate enough to have suffered damage that you are having to repair through an insurance claim then we can provide full survey, quotation and installation options for you and your insurers.

Any masonry is built using mortar and as such is subject to the effect of weathering. A chimney also has internal heat so is constantly being damaged both on the inside and outside so it is not uncommon for the pointing to fail around the stack. We offer a full pointing service to maintain a healthy chimney.

Register plates and debris boards are fitted within the flue system and vary from installation to installation so our in-house fabrication service means we can make them to suit your requirements. We can supply them with or without soot/inspection hatches and even colour code them for you. A full range is available to purchase in our online store or they can be supplied and fitted by our own fully qualified engineers.

In addition to flexible flue liners we can supply and if necessary install internal or external rigid flue systems. These rigid flue systems are available to suit all type of appliances and are an ideal way to add a full working flue to a property or as a remedial item. Rigid flues can come in different diameters along with all manner of fixing brackets, bends, cowls, adapters and plates.

If a chimney is no longer in use and has no fuel burning appliance installed it can sometimes be helpful to seal up the chimney. If not done correctly, this can cause internal damp problems that can cost huge amounts of money to repair at a future date. Having our engineers perform this service eliminates the risks that can occur.
